Grateful in the Midst of the Giant Pause?

In the words of beloved singer/songwriter, Joni Mitchell:  “You don’t know what you’ve got ’til it’s gone.”  Those words couldn’t be more true today! As our routines have been altered and our freedom to move about has been limited, we have been given the chance to discern what really matters to us and why.

We’ve been wondering… is it possible to begin to be grateful?  Is it too soon in the course of processing this global crisis to begin seeing a bit of a silver lining? This question has been a big part of our recent conversations, and we’re wondering if it’s been in your thoughts as well.

Are you experiencing a new appreciation for many things you once took for granted? If so, you are not alone. All around us from social media to signs in neighbors’ yards to nightly rounds of public applause, we are seeing evidence of gratitude emerging.

We hope to spark a new perspective on appreciation and its ability to keep us healthy and happy. This week we’ve curated several possibilities:

  • Simple gratitude exercises to connect heart, mind, and breath to embody the feeling of appreciation.
  • Beautiful video of humans around the world coming together to express thanks.
  • List of apps to make a gratitude practice easy and convenient.

Find all of these and more on Self Care Page.

“So much has been given to me; I have no time to ponder
over that which has been denied.”
 ~ Helen Keller

We’ve looked at what this experience has brought to us and the things we will treasure even more when life gets back to normal.  We’d love to hear what new appreciation you’ve found. Drop us a line or share your stories with us on Face Book.

In the meantime, stay safe and be well!

In wonder and possibility,
Barb and Mary
