READ
Here are some books that we find thought provoking, that provide an illuminating perspective or are just a good positive read while lying in the hammock!
Playing the Matrix by Mike Dooley
A wonderful introduction to the Law of Attraction, this book helps us understand the nature of our being, what we are here to do, and how to make the most of the time we have. It’s simple and straightforward, but loaded with humor and inspiration. The exercises included are a great way to try these concepts out for yourself so you can begin creating the life you dream of. Mike’s “Notes from the Universe” was my first introduction to his work and the many books he has written since have continued to inform my understanding of our spiritual/human nature. ~ Mary
Gmorning, Gnight!: Little Pep Talks for Me and You by Lin-Manuel Miranda
From the creator and star of Hamilton, with beautiful illustrations by Jonny Sun, comes a book of affirmations to inspire readers at the beginning and end of each day.
Wonder by R.J. Palacio
This is a must read for every kid from age 10 – 99. It is a fictional story about a August “Auggie” Pullman, a 10 year old born with a facial deformity and attends public school for the first time as he begins 5th Grade. The story is told from different perspectives including Auggie, his sister and a couple of his classmates at school. I listed this book because…well first of all, the name…WONDER !..however…beyond that, it is a wonderful tale of learning to thrive in new and different ways no matter what life circumstances may throw at you. To me, it captures the essence of what Wonder & Possibility is all about. ~ Barb
The Law of Attraction and Ask and It Will Be Given by Esther & Jerry Hicks
These books are the first ones in a series by Esther and Jerry Hick. Providing information from Abraham, a collective of non-physical beings, the books share a positive, loving approach to being and thriving in this life. Being the optimistic person that I am, their teachings compliment some of my perspectives to life, while giving me some “food for thought”. ~ Barb
Wherever You Go; There You Are by Jon Kabat-Zinn
The title itself caused me enough to pause and read this book. I will have to say, information about mindfulness and meditation is presented in a manner that avoids the typical lofty approach of these techniques in stress release and self awareness. Jon Kabat-Zinn takes a very conversational tone in relaying the benefits of meditation and mindfulness for one’s mind and body. He keeps it simple, with short to the point chapters that target specific elements of practice. What I really loved, was the approach that even 1 minute, 2 minutes, 5 minutes of mindful breath offers benefits, and you don’t have to go to a mountaintop, sit and chant to experience them. The book is well worth exploring as a possibility for developing a mindfulness/meditative practice which fits into your life. ~ Barb
E-Squared by Pam Grout
Rather than take it on faith, E-Squared invites us to prove the following principles:
• There is an invisible energy force or field of infinite possibilities.
• You impact the field and draw from it according to your beliefs and expectations.
• Your connection to the field provides accurate and unlimited guidance.
• The universe is limitless, abundant, and strangely accommodating.
This book is filled with lively and playful experiments to demonstrate for ourselves the power we hold to create the life we want to live.
